What if they think they are, but they aren't sure. How do they figure it out? And what about bisexual people, can they just not make up their minds? I'm asking this seriously, not bashing or judging, I'm just curious!

If you think you are a lesbian, you probably are, or at least bisexual. You aren't necessarily so, but it's a good indicator.

Basically, if you have no desire, or can't imagine having a desire in the future, of sleeping with men or being sexual with them, you are probably not straight, nor bisexual. If you can imagine having a desire to sleep with women, and enjoy it, though, you are a lesbian. If you have these feelings for both men and women, you are bisexual. That's all!

And no, bisexuals aren't just people who can't make up their mind. Take it from me, a bisexual virgin girl- there's no confusion or greediness or indecision about bisexuals. They HAVE made a choice- and it's both! It's a slight case of bi-invisibility and bi-phobia to dismiss them that way (I know you aren't being mean, though, so I wanted to explain that to you).

Hope that helps!

I didn't know I was a lesbian until I started having fantasies about other women (while pregnant). Figured it was hormones and would go away after I gave birth. It didn't. So I figured I would try it once, be incredibly grossed out and the fantasies would end. I talked my husband (easily) into a threesome. I loved making love to a woman and lost interest in men. That was 14 years ago - I've been in a committed relationship with another woman for 11 years. So that's how I knew I was a lesbian - probably different answers from different folks. Good luck!

For me it was over a couple of months of becoming friends with with my now cute partner who has always been gay. I had been married and divorced. We just keeped getting closer and one evening we were watching tv and she wrote me a note and asked me if she could kiss me. I thought what the heck, I had masturbated to release sexual tension, couldn't be much different then that. Said ok, she showed me the way and we have been together over a year. We actually had become very good friends before this all happened. Much better relationship then my awful marriage! More gentle and romantic. So I would say I'm a Lesbian now (probably bi- because I would still like sex with a guy if I was not with my partner)

I believe that too many people put labels on things first off. And I think you know if you are lesbian or bi if you are interested in the same sex, I believe there are people who are just curious about how it would be, and there are people who can never imagine being with the opposite sex again. Actually have a friend that is in her 40's and battles with herself about being gay at times and she has never been with a man, and says if she thought it was wrong she would never be with anyone, she would be alone before she would be with a man. I think that is how you know. If you can't imagine yourself in a man's arms you are a lesbian, if you want both you are Bisexual, and in my opinion if you are bisexual it is sex you are after not the love of someone.

I am bisexual...I am married to a wonderful man..But I also love women. There is just something about another womans touch. They can do things a man cant. My husband has no problem with me being bisexual. He wants me to find a girlfriend.

I knew I was because I was only attracted to women, and never to men. that's the biggest "sign" right there.
