Right now it is 8:21pm, but when you wrote your time it was 1:45am. South Africa is currently 7 hours ahead of you.

Currently SA is at +2 Greenwhich Meridian, which means, 2 hours ahead of London, and currently 7 hours ahead of New York city.
SA does not time zones (yet) so it will be the same time in Cape Town as in Johannesburg, despite them being in separate time zones. Also SA does not follow daylight savings time, so in spring when the clocks go forward, instead of staying 2 hours ahead of London (New York 7), SA only becomes 1 hour ahead of London, 6 hours for New York.
It's a bit complicated, but once one gets ones head around it, quite easy.

14.18 here now and that is 7 hours ahead of Virginia USA.
