I Have been on the Pill 'Dianette' for over three years now.

When i was with my boyfriend i decided to go on the pill.
i talked to my GP about my spots and so i went on Dianette as it improves the skin aswell.

The aim of treatment with Dianette is to block the male hormones present in the female body . When a woman has too much of a hormone called androgen, conditions like acne can occur. Dianette reduces the amount of androgen and also reduces the activity of the sebaceous gland which causes acne.

My skin has dramaticly improved, its clear and spot free and i am very happy with it!!

I am no longer with my boyfriend so am thinking to come off the pill...
i dont see the point of staying on the pill if i am not in a relationship.
BUT I am woried that if i come off Dianette my skin will become greasy again which could bring back my spots which i really dont want!?

is there a harm in long term pill use?

shall i come off it?

Talk to your doctor-they should have solid information on this subject.

it is completely fine to stay on the pill. especially if you are having no negative effects from it.
i am currently on dianette initially for my skin but also for contraception. and i dont see the harm in it if you're taking it in order to prevent acne and only for that reason.
(i was put on it at 15 because of my acne).
however, if you feel worried about the continuous use of dianette (as this can be a dangerous pill if used long term) then i would ask your doctor about switching to the pill Yasmin. which is just like dianette and can be used to prevent acne.
hope this helps

Come off it.
As for health effects, it depends what studies you look at! some say you are more likely to get things like cancer and some say its less likely.
It also depends on your family history...My mum had a stroke at 43 and because of that i can not stay on the pill past 30 incase i develop a blood clot like my mum. so just check for any problems in your family.
Depends if you had a teenage type acne or not i guess, maybe as you have got older your skin has changed but the pill has stopped you seeing the difference.
Speak to your doctor about it, there might be something better for you to try.

No there isn't harm in long term pill use. Doctors do prescribe birth control pills to females that aren't even sexually active mainly because of the other benefits such as regulated period and cleared skin. I think it's always safe to stay on birth control just in case an "accident" should happen. If you're really concerned about whether or not you should stay on it, than just ask your doctor but it's not harmful to be on it for a long period of time.

I think You are safe to come off the pill, you face most likely will stay like how it is, I don't see why you should stay on the pill. But if you really beileve that your skin is clear because of the pill then why not stay on it. There are no long-term effects staying on the pill just regular everyday side-effects and since you are not a smoker you shouldn't worry. plus i tried to e-mail you but I couldn't. Bye cutie. I think you are really cute, what state are you in?

My friend was only allowed to stay on the pill for three years, her doctor told her that it wasn't wise to go any longer without taking a break. I would certainly have a word with your GP.

You should stay on the pill because you never know what might happen in the future you might meet a new guy. Your acne could come back if you come off the pill.
