You "should" wait until after your 6 week postpartum check-up, especially if you have a C-section or stiches.
However, I think I only waited about 4 weeks. You might be bleeding for awhile and not to sound pessimistic but you probably won't be thinking about sex too much those first few months after the baby is born!

Western medicine would stay about 4 to 6 weeks, depending on how well you heal and feel comfortable with it.
Muslim men in some countries will have sex with their wife immediately after the birth, believing if another child is conceived it is a blessing or something. I personally think they are just horny.
I remember something from a sitcom.... where the guy was going nuts.... and they thought the doctor said 6 MONTHS, not 6 weeks! LOL
Just be sure you are healed and not in any pain when you do it, and I think it is fine.
Best Wishes,
Sue

wait until the bleeding stops (mine was about 4 weeks after) otherwise it could be really messy
I know they say to wait until your 6 week appt, but I did and one of the first ?s they asked me was if we had tried or not. Honestly, I wish that we had because OMG, the pain I had the first time was something I did not expect (I had some stitches and things just needed to stretch). Needless to say, I had to schedule an extra appt to make sure that everything truly was okay. I say try a couple days before your 6 week appt so that you can have any ?s you may have answered. And make sure you use a condom--even if you're nursing or your period hasn't come back you can still get pregnant.

I would say around 4-6 weeks or until the bleeding stops. If you had an episiotomy maybe a bit longer. Most importantly wait untill you feel up to it.

Due to bleeding ( I know, it's gross) you'll probably want to wait untill that's stopped (about 6-8 weeks) alternativly, whenever you feel comfortable with it is fine. Don;t feel pressured into it, you will be sore for a while after birth.

Remember protection, you can still get pregnant.
You can have sex whenever you feel that its not painful. Its not a matter of how many weeks, its a matter of how long it takes your body to heal.
Obviously you dont want to have sex if you needed stiches and they havent completely healed yet.

1. Wait for your own doctors approval or idea. That is afterall, your doctor and knows your situation.
2. You yourself also knows that answer better than anyone would. Depends on your body and how you feel.
But trust me, come back after you deliver, and i bet that will be the FARTHEST thing from your mind :) Especially if you don't have a c section.

you should wait until the six week postpartum check up. the doctors want you to wait this long for a reason. some women don't wait this long, but i would if i were you just to be safe.

Technically speaking not until your post-partum check-up. Actually, probably whenever you want. It depends on how you're feeling. We didn't wait until the postpartum checkup.
