1986 Pontiac Parisienne and now the oil isn't pumping to the top of the motor and I had a new oil pump put on it. They keep telling me that I need a motor , but I had a trusted mechanic check out the car and I was told that the motor is fine. What can cause the oil not to pump to the top of my motor. Thanks in advance.

If the engine gets oil to the lower part of the engine, the oil pump is functioning. If the camshaft was replaced, there is a good chance that the cam bearings and the oil gallies may be obstructed with debris.
This will require some tear-down time for inspection. i don't think that this is a simple matter of something overlooked. I think that there is something seriously amiss.

Good Luck

Is this a chevy or a Pontiac engine? There is a BIG differance.

The question to ask is why was the original cam replaced?. Are you saying the rocker arms are not getting oil? That can be caused by plugged up pushrod oiling passages, bad cam bearings, loose lifter-to-boss clearance, plugged oiling galleys in block, etc.

Do you know what the oil pressure is? Does the valvetrain make a bunch of noise? How many miles on the engine?

cam bearing can make low oil pressure come to mind a bad oil pump is a norther but if the car has ran very much it would not be ruining with no oil pressure i would have a good mechanic put a gage on it to see what the true oil pressure is

sounds like some one forgot the oil pump drive shaft, have them pull the distributor and see if the shaft is in place,if it is they can turn it with a socket and extension to see if the pump is any good, you may have a bum pump or pressure relief valve stuck open
