My dad called me with a prob with his keyboard on his pc. He says that he created an administrator account. He types in his password and then gets to the desktop. He goes into notepad and it wont type. He also goes into create another user account for the pc and it wont allow him to type this in either. What is going on with his pc?

Well he figured it out now. So none of you were right. But thanks for trying.

The solution: Something about filter keys and non filter keys option. It wrong option was seleted allowing some things to type and some not to. Weird!!

Ive had that happen to me and there are possible answers for this. 1. Your computer keyboard could be plugged in somewhere where it doesn't belong there making it not type. 2. You could have ruined the slot to insert your keyboard into and that would explain it working on your laptop. 3. This is kind of rare but sometimes your computer acts up and doesn't support your keyboard causing it to not work. Try to make sure if one of these is your problem and try to completely shut down your computer and turn it back on to see if it makes any progress. Hope this can help because when my keyboard did this I just shut it down and put it back on and made sure num lock was on and it worked :)

if its a laptop, the .DLLs could be messed up or if its a desktop computer it can be dirty or damaged prongs to where the keyboard connects to the desktop or just a broken keyboard. If its on a desktop its not a big problem where you need to spend over 20.00, check all connections and try keyboard on another computer. He may have the USB ports disabled if he plugs in through USB,,just the read extra details now, it must be broken .DLLs that let u type, this is not common on desktops

Have him try another keyboard. It happens that your PS2 slot can get dirty and stop working. Try a USB keyboard if you have one handy.

If not, try rebooting in Safe Mode and try typing. To do that, just before your computer shows "Windows XP" when your power it up, pres F8 repeatedly, and choose "Safe Mode".
