The only way to become better at art is to practice. You can further develop your own personal style by studying the works of other artists and learning their methods of creating different effects.

I'm also interested in creating my own video games and if just recently started getting into learning how to put one together. There's a lot more to learn than just drawing. I'd advise you start learning about 3D animation and using programs like Lightwave 3D and Maya. Plus brush up on your mathmatics particularly geometry and trigonometry. Also get familiar with C++ programing and OpenGL. Most of the games these days encorperate a lot of CG animation and 3D enviromnents and even if you aren't writing the program code you need to be familiar with it so that your programmers can easily add your work into building the game.

If you want to learn to draw people or animals to help you design characters, dont spend your money on those"how to draw books" or copy other poeples work. The best thing you can to do to help your drawing is to start drawing from real-life. (I'm a freshman in art school and I have already heard this a hundred times). Drawing the people and things around you can be difficult, but it's cheap and artist have been doing it for centuries,

The best way to become a better artist is to take in as much of all kinds of well-done art, both in museums and in comics, magazines, film, videogames, etc. And then practice your *** off in your sketchpad everyday. Videos are for suckers, Just get in there, Immerse yourself!!!! Learn to copy exactly what your eye sees, whether it's a tree or a Metal Gar Solid illustration. Then, learn how to twist it all around and play with it until it becomes something of your own. The best artists are skillful rip-offers in a manner of speaking. Just dig in!
