The CIC still controlls the military, so don't expect the Democrats to do much. Sounds to me like they just used the war to get elected in. Now they do not care.

The Dems will follow the course set making superficial changes and proclaim look at what a great job we are doing. The leaders of our nation both dem and repubs consult with the top minds of the world before making decisions. They know what to expect and adjust accordingly just as the Dems will if elected in 08'. Clinton reaped the benefits of Reagan and Bush SR. tough choices which created the economic boom of the 1990's. More tough choices have resulted in the Dems re-taking congress. Hopefully John McCain will be the beneficiary of these tough choices as president and he will nobly give credit where credit is due.

What did we expect? They don't have a plan to fix Iraq. Worse, they have trouble agreeing on almost any issue.
I think the best thing to come of this election is not the Democratic victory, but that it forces Republicans to be better Republicans. Do you really think Democrats will ever fix anything?

Even when Dems control congress they will not control the Executive branch which includes little things like the Defense Dept., State Dept., and all the intelligence agencies.
Congress makes laws, and laws don't determine military, diplomatic or intelligence strategy.

Oh, gee, well maybe it's because they aren't officially Congress until January and the Republicans are still working! Man, questions like this make the Democrat's points for them--stop it!

The newly elected democratic majority hasn't even taken office yet. Talk to me next year at this time. It is an awful mess with over 300 Iraqi dying in the last two days. It might take a little while to put the democratic plan in place and they still have to get it past the man that made this mess. He still has veto power. Maybe they should start with impeachment proceedings in order to fix Iraq.

Well first of all the Dems are not in power yet. Second I hope they
listen to the experts and don't go with the Murtha plan of cut and run.

Because they are not sure if they want to cut then run or run first then cut.
Seriously, even tho I'm a Republican I don't like Bush. Still, just because Bush started the war doesn't mean we shouldn't have. It is better to be offensive and take the war to them than sit back and wait for them to come to the baggage claim.

They are not actually in power yet. They won the election, now they have to wait to take office.
And, Iraq may have no 'easy' fix. This problem is not going away fast.
