Thats tough to compare the two because of completely differnt style of music.....I think the Mars Volta's act is getting a little tiresome. There are only like 2 stand out tracks on their new album, and most of the songs are just long and drawn out. What was once viewed as cutting edge and ground breaking style now comes off as loud, overused effects that can getting annoying and are very tiresome. I found myself skipping to the next track after several minutes of annoying "experimental" instrumental sound. One track did not seem to fit which was a very slow song sung in all Spanish. It seemed out of place and tried to be the bands attempt at a radio friendly ballad. I must say being a huge At the Drive-In fan, I have enjoyed the bands that formed after their collapse(Sparta & TMV). However, I think the new disc from TMV is too much of the same and leaves does nothing to seperate itself from their previous work. I think Sparta's new disc is much better than this one and that there will be a shift in the supremecy of the two bands down the road....

RHCP on the other hand did very well in mixing Stadium Arcadium up. The two discs are very different in style, so if you buy it and dont like the first disc you pop in, try the other one. A bunch of songs come off as ballads, but I think that the "Mars" disc is the better of the two. It has heavier songs which I enjoyed and threw in a few lighter tunes that mixed well. Some songs do sometimes come across os Poppy filler, but all in all it is blended very well and a decent effort from RHCP
