Contact a carper installer they can remove a piece of carpet from a closet and replace the burned area and put another piece of carpet in your closet. Should be able to have everything fixed for under 100.00 dollars. Hope this helps

This problem is not nearly as serious as some make it sound. Although burns are usually not fixable, patching is a fairly simple process that the average users can handle. Think about this, many carpets are not wide enought to cover the entire floor area in room. The original installer actuall takes strips and lines them up together. Because the carpet fibers stand above the backing, it camaflouges the seams. You would be hard pressed to find these seams because the nature of the carpet fibers hide it and they are secured down.

Certain stores sell a cookie cutter like carpet tool with blades that cut throught the carpet and allow you to remove it. If you cant find that, you can use a paint can as a guide with an exacto knife but it is harder to control so your cut will tend to be more ragged. As you are cutting be conscious that you draw the knife between the fibers so that you are cutting the carpet backing only.

Next, take an extra piece of carpet from the extra you saved during the original installation. (you did save some didn't you? The same is true with tile and siding. ALWAYS save some extra for just such a patching occasion). If you didn't, find an inconspicuos spot (closet, under the couch)and remove the patch material from there - using the same guide or tool you used for the original hole.

Using double sided carpet tape, cut strips of the tape and position them in the hole. You can get this tape at any hardware store. Once it is in position pull the backing off the double stick tape that is facing you and press the patch piece firmly over the adhesive.

Some people also use hot glue to adhere the patch. If you are going to use hot glue, you should apply the glue to the edges of the carpet to prevent the fibers from pulling out.

Finally, use a full paint can or a stack of books to weigh down the patch to make sure it bonds correctly.

When the carpet has set, brush the fibers and if you were careful in your workmanship, you would be hard pressed to notice the patch at all.

Here's how to fix this: 1.) Cut a small sample of your apartment's carpet and go to a carpet store. Buy a couple yards of the same color carpet (some to keep just in case this happens again). Many carpet stores have second-hand scraps that will do just fine. 2.) Look in the newspaper and find a carpet installer/repair person in the classifieds section. 3.) You'll end up paying about $60-100 for the labor and $10-40 for the carpet. Problem fixed! I wouldn't bother telling the landlord, they wouldn't understand. Besides, after the repair job, no none will know but you and the repair person.

The damage to your carpet can be repaired, if you will take time to answer a few questions, it is a great possibility I can help save you time & money in addition to finding an installer to fix it in-expensively.
Worst-case scenario; you will replace the entire room.

Questions to better serve you;

How old is the damaged carpet.
How large (just estimate) is the burn damaged?
What type of burn, heat damage, hot food, grease, water etc?
How large is the room (just estimate) where damage exists 10x10 12x12?
What part of the carpet is damaged, path area or rarely used area?
Does the room in question have a closet if so how large?
Do you have a leftover piece from original installation?
Any other room (s) in the home has the same style/color ?

the best way to fix that is find a good installer and have him patch it,with spare carpet if you do not have a spare scrap laying i would take a piece out of a closet to match . it should cost no more than 25 dollars. good luck

If it's a burn, I don't believe it can be repaired as a burn is permanent damage.

Best bet is to strategically place a chair or potted plant (in a tray) over the offending site and fess up to your landlord. Sorry!

If you (or your landlord) have extra carpet, a piece can be cut out and replaced. Don't try it yourself, have your landlord get someone to do it.

You'll have to pay for it, but you would anyway when you move out.
