The chewing on hands and massive amounts of drool are classic signs of teething. My babies usually started around 4 months old, but I had a friend whose son cut his first tooth when he was only 2 months old, so every baby is different. I'd bet your baby is fussy because she's teething. (I'd watch out for red flag symptoms like a fever, chest congestion etc just in case.) As the teeth work their way up through the gums it causes a lot of discomfort for your sweet little baby. It can take a while for the teeth to pop up though. You probably won't see actual teeth for a few months, although it could happen sooner. It's very normal for a baby to go through periods of fussiness off and on until their teeth come in. You can ask your pediatrician's office about giving your daughter tylenol to help relieve her discomfort. They also have these really great homeopathic teething tablets at the grocery store or drug store that dissovle in the baby's mouth. They worked really well on all 3 of my babies. Also letting the baby gnaw on a frozen washcloth can soothe the gums and the need to chew. Good Luck!

Babies can be born with teeth, so yes she can be teething at 3 months. It sounds like that to me. Teething is just something that every baby has to go through. Just watch for any infections in the gums, and buy a teething ring that you can put in freezer to cool down to provide relief. I personally don't believe in using those medicated teething gels because they use Benzocaine, but that is up to you.

Rub your clean finger along her gum. If you feel any hard or sharp bits, she is teething.
But to ease her suffering, buy her a teething toy, give her a dose of Calpol and use some bonjela teething gel.
Good luck!

my daughter's first tooth came out at 5 months, so there I can tell you that your 3month old is teething.
