Well I am point gaurd for my High School Basketball team. Not to brag but i think i am kinda good. But you can't learn to dribble over night. My advice would be to practice at home before the game, go to a park or somewhere where there is a basketball net. Try and dribble with out looking down at your ball. then try walking with out looking down then try speed walking and thena jog but dont go to fast. You wnat to make sure you are mastering the walk before you can speed walk. then master that then master the jog and the run. Once you have mastered all that then you need to do the tree. What that is is where you run and switch hand that you are dribbling in keep doing that. have some friends help you if you can. But i hope this helps..... Good luck at the game!

well i consider myself a decent dribbler, but not in a game situation. let my faults guide you.

first, dribbling with your finger tips, not palm. don't slap at the ball, let your fingers guide the ball. you get more control. secondly, look up. i have a problem with that and that always causes me to turn the ball over, so try looking up.

to become a good ball handler, it takes years of practice. however, make sure you don't get any bad habits like i did. i never look up and palm or carry the ball when dribbling. don't do that. try using a tennis ball to dribble since that improves your control. dribble two balls and practice that. work on your off hand more than your natural hand. also, see if you can buy Better Basketball's Better Dribbling. It has a boatload of drills.

if you want to improve overnight, you won't. however, you can try to improve by relaxing. don't force anything, and look up while dribbling with your finger tips. and besides, if the coach wants you to play 1, then he thinks he probably can.

Learn to dribble without looking at the ball. Keep your body low and in an athletic position. This will enable you to change directions, pass or shoot very quickly. Staying low also means the ball doesn't have to travel far from the floor to your hands and it will be easier to control and harder to steal.

take a ball and for 30 minutes dribble crossover left handed and right handed then run back and forth dribbling to improve ballhandling skills. i play 3 forward at my high school, so i dont dribble as much as you would but it definitly improved my handling.

and a side note dont look down when dribbling and keep the ball in front of you, not at your side.

Just practice your hand/eye coordination at home by simply practicing.Just like the old saying goes, practice makes perfect.
Something that helps your hand/eye-coordination are, surprisingly video games.

Well, good luck with your game. To improve your handles, use tennis balls, & dribble them, trust me it helps. Also, have poise, and be willing to pass more than score. (Pass first, and watch, you'll be wide open everytime...)
