I've been invited & have carefully examined the benefits & cetera, but can't decide, since I don't know too much about it. If you could also maybe explain their switching system that'd be great, since I tried the Yahoo! switch or whatever & it didn't work well @ all.

1. You've got a huge amount of storage for your email: almost 3 GB
2. You can use Google Docs and Spreadseets (web based word editor and excel spreadsheets )
3. You can create your own web site with localized downloads ( 100 MB ) and tons of features.
4. You can use Google Reader ( web based rss, xml, atom.. reader ); it's better than most desktop applications ( keyboard shortcuts ... and lots of features )
5. You can use their calendar.....
6. A lot of other things (all free)
7. You don't need to switch right away; create your account see how it works; and switch when you feel comfortable (like me)

I have gmail. Its the greatest on web based emails. Not only is it free, but the amount of space on it its incredible. It is also very easy to the eye and easy to use. Go for it. You will never again have to delete an old email. I use it for work and I still have the email confirmation for when I got called for an interview and that was a year ago.

In the end, its your decision. But its really good.

Good Luck

Its a free email account that is also available using a POP email client like Outlook. As far as switching, if you mean switching all your existing Yahoo accounts over to them - this does not exist. YOU need to be the one that is responsible for informing your fan club of your new email address.

Why not have both?

because it is free email, have large capacity (2 Gb++), user-friendly email, simple look.

you have to be invited to have a gmail account. usually you ask from your friend that already had or your friend just simply send the invitation.

gmail is relatively new. gmail is not switching anything. yahoo is trying their new look.

i have both and i like gmail better.
