There is nothing to be scared of, hon. It's a perfectly natural phenomenon that's experienced by millions of girls and women all over the world. What specifically are you afraid of? There is usually no pain involved -- maybe some mild cramping, but that's natural. The blood that you see is just some tissue that the uterus builds up in case an egg is fertilized and pregnancy results. This tissue is what helps the egg develop into a baby when the time is right. When no fertilization occurs, the body sloughs off that tissue along with some blood, and that's what comprises the menstrual discharge. Talk to your doctor, your mother, or some other adult woman who can answer your questions and assure you that this is a normal and welcome part of becoming a woman, and someday, maybe a mother. Good luck and God bless!

Changes in your body can by scary, but this happens to all of us. If you are concerned or have questions talk with your mother or if an older sister if you have one. If you don't feel comfortable talking with them about this, then see if your Mom will take you to the doctors and talk with a female doctor, NP, or PA. They can help answer your answers and give you information about what is happening to your body.

There's nothing you can do about it. Don't be afraid. It happens to every girl. You'll get used to it.
