5x + 3t = 19
-(5x -3t = 1)
------------------
6t = 18
t = 3

5x + 3(3) = 19
5x + 9 = 19
5x = 10
x = 2

5(2) - 3(3) = 1
10 -9 = 1

get rid of x by multiplying -1
-5x-3t= -19
5x-3t= 1
add them up
-6t=-18
t= 3
subt 3 back in for t
5x-3(3)= 1
5x-9= 1
5x=10
x=2

check: 5(2)+3(3)=19

add 1st equation to the second, and you get 10x = 20, x = 2. Then 5(2) - 3t = 1, so -3t = -9, so t=3.

3t = 19 - 5x

3t = 5x - 1

19 - 5x = 5x -1

10x = 20

x = 2

3t = 5x - 1 = 9

t = 3
