Until this year, I had always seen beauty as say....my crush, essica Simpson, and Johny Dep, for example. But only now, i just thought of this: what makes a human beautiful physically?

you can say that they're pleasing to look at. But WHYare they pleasing to look at? And WHAT MAKES THEM pleasing to look at? I don't understand it. I know this person is considered beautiful, but at the same time I don't understand what beautiful truly means.

i know this is quite a question, but could someone offer some insight?

i think maybe is because society has made it that way.
if you were from a different unknown place and all youve known is a clean face & your culture thinks its beautiful, then if you came to america you'd probably think that all the girls are ugly & you'd probably wonder why everyone uses these "ground up rocks" and "sticks" on their face.

you learn when you are very young, beauty, ugly, and misery, and you grow with what you have learned. sometimes what people do can change your perspective on whats beautiful & what isnt.

'Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder' quote. Everyone sees things differently so physical beauty could be a lot of things to different people, but not the most important. 'Beauty is only skin deep', without a good attitude, a smile, a good deposition, a since of humor, or a good and loving heart, physical beauty is nothing.

God loves us no matter what we look like because we all have a beauty that is attractive to someone. A person that has a good heart, caring, honest, sincere, and believes in the good Lord is a very beautiful person. A person that has confidence in them self and doesn't worry about what others think about their appearance is beautiful also. A person has to learn to love them self and except them self for the way God made them.

I am not sure if this answers your question but this is how I feel.

I'm not sure if there's a "way" to tell if someone is actually beautiful. I mean you might think that Jessica Simpson is hot but there are those who may think that she's ugly. I think one of the things that determines if a person is beautiful or not is whether he or she is aesthetically pleasing to look at or not. The same goes for objects such as flowers.

And since different forms are pleasing to different people, you have different variations on what people think is beautiful. So though there's a general definition for beauty, there's no real "scientific" way to class someone as beautiful because it's all a matter of personal opinion.

It's like that old saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

The criteria for beauty in your eyes were instilled in you by your parents, by relatives, ..... by the people who verbalized what they thought were beautiful. Did someone every say to you as a child, " Wow, how beautiful your eyes are!" and she smiled and was full of joy saying it.... or something like that.... and you thought, " What does she mean by that?"... and then you started looking at yourself in the mirror until it clicked in your mind and you thought, "My eyes are beautiful indeed.".... and you started comparing your eyes with other people's eyes.... lol. We are surrounded by beauty obsessed people... and exposed to the media, which is extremely beauty oriented. Don't forget, though that beauty is still in the eyes of the beholder.... different people- different way of seeing what beauty is.... so a person from Africa... , who's not too much exposed to TV might think differently than you who's (I'm assuming) not from there. We don't even have to be from different countries to have different criteria for what we consider beautiful. Depending on how much you let others influence your opinion on this matter- you will think the way the mass thinks or you have a very individual attitude towards it.

Well each person's perception of beauty is going to be different but I think there are some common traits to a person who is considered 'beautiful'. I think people with very even & smooth features tend to look more beautiful than others. Also, beauty has a lot to do with how a person carries him/herself & a person's personality. Someone can be physically attractive but if he/she is obviously uncomfortable with themselves that will come across to others & maybe make them seem less appealing.

There is a natural balance in beauty, or symmetry. There is also hard beauty and soft beauty. Today, with commercialism, many people used as models have hard beauty (you know, the tough, cool, proud look) which may sell stuff, but isn’t true beauty. Soft beauty glows with spiritual qualities and is pleasant to behold. There is more to beauty than just what the eye sees.

The "Beautiful People" are everything that we want to be. They look perfect, never a blemish or imperfection. They are perfectly fit, their hair is never out of place. It is everything we are not: HUMAN. They seem infalable because they have things that we do not. Yet another reason why beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If someone thinks that they are overwieght, they see pictures of people who are normally- or under- weighted and think they are beautiful because they wish they looked like that. If someone wishes they had green eyes, people with green eyes become perfectly attractive. Its nothing more than deep rooted desire in our own flaws.

The ones I consider beautiful have features that is perfect in my eyes. I could look at them all day, sigh, and admire it like a mystery. But a beautiful person with a bad attitude ruin their beauty because that plays a big part.

There is an old adage...?beauty is in the eye of the beholder." For example:
I think Angelina Jolie is a beauty. I asked my son if he agreed. He didn't. He told me she was "lips on a pig." How can that be? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I also happen to think that Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston look like brother and sister. Others may not agree.

Very good question.

I you have to affirm that the term beauty is relative, it is possible to be very beautiful externally, but within you do not know.

On the other hand it can be that externally it is not very attractive, but have an excellent soul.

I believe that the term beauty should be balanced, it should be beautiful externally and within, have a better balance in the life.

Everything in the life is a balance, it is not possible to be in an end, because you do not develop like well to be a human being.

Regards and thanks for your question.
