Democracy (literally "rule by the people", from the Greek demos, "people," and kratos, "rule") is a form of government for a nation state, or for an organization in which all the citizens have an equal vote or voice in shaping policy or electing government officials. While the term democracy is often used in the context of a political state, the principles are also applicable to other bodies, such as universities, labor unions, public companies, or civic organizations.............enjoy just dont believe it actually exists!

Creepingr has given the right answer. The word democracy comes from the two Greek words he described. It does not follow however that just because UK calls itself a democracy that it really is one. In a real democracy, as created by the citizens of Athens in c600BC, every issue is debated by the electors at public meetings held daily in the Assembly after which a vote is taken. There are no political parties only electors, the free citizens of the city. A man would be voted in as president (of the republic) for one day only.
Read Plato's Republic to find out more. Another person, a philosopher, to study is Socrates. You might also try reading some of the plays by Aristophanes - mostly rude comedies about the political activities of the period.

A democracy is a system of government where all decisions of importance are decided by the people voting. I don't think any exist these days. Most governments are democratically elected dictatorships.

According to Abraham Lincoln 'democracy' means government of the people for the people and by the people. It means the people's ability to choose their leaders with all freedom.
