I think they're right. Ticks are inactive this time of year and it is unlikely. Go to a tree farm to be sure, don't take a wild tree

Ticks don't live in trees. They live on animals and in the tall grass. I doubt that you could bring them home in the Christmas tree, but you might pick some up on clothing and any dog or cat that went into the woods with you could pick up ticks.

It is much more likely that you would bring the ticks in on your pants legs walking through the brush than on a tree. Even though they are not very active this time of year they are still out there. I just got one off of my cat three days ago.

I am not sure of your location, but my family and I have been cutting fresh trees for the last 15 years. We live in New Jersey. We have three dogs and have never noticed a problem with ticks. Hope this helps!!

no, ticks are not active at this time of year. and they prefer tall grass to trees anyway. evergreens are not a favorite hangout for them
