7/8 divided by .25 is the same as multiplying by 4.
7/8 X 4 = 28/8 = 3 4/8 = 3 1/2

Algebraically, this is the same as
(7/8) / (1/4) -- which you will recall becomes
(7/8) * (4/1) -- which then becomes
( 7 * 4 ) / 8 -- Which becomes
28 / 8
8 goes into 28 three times for 24... leaving 4 as the remainder
so, you get 3 and 4/8 but 4/8 is the same as 1/2 so the answer is
3 1/2
