Just who are people trying to impress with cliche and pandering soap box speeches about how everyone is special, judgements are wrong, and we're all beautiful? Do they expect the Nobel Prize Committee to knock on their door and give them an award for sucking upto everyone?

I think people miss the point, which sadly happens often. I do not want or need a lecture on the beauty of the individual, especially if I ask a survey question about people's views on who or what is beauty. It is, frankly, dull, monotonous and grating to read redundant cliches with no judgements. It is sappy babble, whether or not it is valid. Call me what you want, I stand by my comments. Now, again, is there somone these people are trying to impress?

Yes, some people are looking for pats on the back. But there are some genuinly positive people that just want to share their positive thoughts.
You are entitled to your opinion, but I say, I would rather hear a whole lot of love talk than negative things.

it's true! everyone is beautiful, think about it u see this ugly chick with a cute guy or this ugly guy with a cute chick, ur like "wtf?"...judgements are wrong cause you wouldnt like it if someone was judging you "like OMG this guy is asking such a stupid question or why is he a jackass"...and everyone is special cause if they werent everyone would be the same which is boring!

Flattery is okay if it is sincere. Better to be positive and complimentary than name calling, judgemental or condemning somebody to hell if they don't adhere to your brand of religion. Lighten up.

I believe "they" are trying to impress THEMSELVES. No one else really cares what they say, or do.
