Why are so many people prejudiced against gays and lesbians?

I am not lesbian, just so you know. But why do so many people care about who others are attracted to?

Are you prejudiced against gay people? Why?

I just want to know, because I don't have a clue why so many people don't think of gays and lesbians as just normal people.

Well, mainly because it goes against what the Bible is purported to teach, but even that is not quite correct.

Gays and Lesbians...I just call it the Gay community...are different...anything that is different...people look at in another way.

Personally, I believe that we are all just people.....and all of our lifestyles are different in some way.....so it doesn't matter.

I have worked with Gays, have Gay friends, have a Gay step-son and a Gay cousin. These people are open, friendly, most are very well adjusted and know where they are going in life. They have little excess emotional baggage like heterosexuals do, since they disposed of this by coming out. They are my most trusted friends and I respect them as they respect me.

I have worked with Gays who are not well adjusted, and have counseled them (my job). We are all the same, same thots, same dreams, same responsibilities. We all strive to be better and to live together.

You know reading what some people write is so hilarious to me, I guess I wonder why so many people bring God into it when someone ask about being gay? You know I would love to look at someone straight and say... Ok you may not be gay, BUT have you ever lusted over someone of the opposite sex? have you ever fixed yourself up because you wanted someone to notice you? Have you ever called into work because you just didn't want to go? By the way have you EVER told a lie? OK if you can answer all those as NO then you have a clear shot to the gates to heaven, if not you need to get on your knees also! Gay, Straight, do you have a clue that is just who you have sex with, who you love? It is not their life. And to the idiot that said what is next marrying a dog, wow that is bright I really like how the Internet brings out the intelligence of others.
It really shows how many ignorant people there are in this world.
YOU need to get on your knees and pray for yourselves not just others.

Well u see,if they r straight then they wouldnt understand what it is liketo be gay so they would make fun off gays becuz they arent and ppl jump to conclusions way to fast. I would say they are prejudice. Im not though. I support that stuff. it doesen;t matter to me. People r people,were not all the same so non gays need to get a realtiy check.

fear of what they don't understand is probably the biggest reason. I've known people that where totally against us and never knew that they hung around with a gay guy. most where pretty good about it when i told them and did realize we are no different

They are those who have been prejudiced by society and those who are confronting their own fears.

because they have been taught to be afraid of things that are not "normal" people fear what they do not understand and fear is a strong motivator. unfortunately fear often brins out the worst in people.

I by all means don't think there not normal, just it is immoral and it's nothing i would consider. I have nothing against them personal I mean my sister is gay and i have a few friends, it doesn't change who they are. I am agaisnt gay marriage because where does it stop, tomorrow a guy wants to mary his dog? I mean come on. It mainly has to do with your religon but people judging others for it is wrong, and i'm christian.
