The first thing you should do is let her sleep a little and give her poor belly a rest before trying to get her to drink anything else. After she has had an hour where she has not been given anything you can start with the pedialyte in very small amounts, like a teaspoon at a time. You should give a teaspoon every 30 minutes for an hour and then gradually increase this amount, to two teaspoons, then three, etc, etc. You should not try and get her to eat any solids or any milk products for the first day. By day two she will probably be feeling much better, but don't jump into the solids yet. Take it easy and give her easily digested foods like toast. By day three you can start to give her more varied items, but still trying to keep them to ones that will be easy on her belly and by day four she should be good to go.

I know this is a very distressing time. The first time any of my kids are sick like this I always panic. You just can't imagine how such a little baby is going to deal with this, but they do just fine.

If your daugher is still throwing up the next day, or cannot hold down even a teaspoon of the pedialyte then I would put in another call to the docotor. There are suppositiores that they can give your daughter that can stop vomiting. As for your daughters disslike of pedialyte, it might have to do with her not really wanting anything right now.

Goodluck and I hope she feels better.

give a tablespoon of pedialyte every half hour until puking stops, then other bread or crackers. She wont need the food as much right now just keep her hydrated, to much at once will cause her to puke. Even if she throws it up keep givving her little bits of water or pedialyte, not all the fluid will come up even it seems like is is. They make pedialyle that is plain!

Try spoon feeding her the pedialyte, just a couple tablespoons at a time. If after 3 hours she can keep that down, you can try giving her a little water. If that stays down she can try some cereal. Little ones get dehydrated very easily and if you can't get her to drink anything or if it keeps coming back up by morning, you should probably call the Dr. and see if they want her to go to the ER for fluids.

Strep throat can make kids stomachs really upset. My daughter's 1st signs of strep throat are vomiting and sleepiness. She has had it quite often and sometimes without even a fever. This is the only time she has really thrown up. I would give it another 24 hrs and then go see Dr. Give her tablespoon of pedialyte or gatorade every 15 min. That way she doesn't get dehydrated.

If she goes 8 hours without a wet diaper than go to the ER.

Otherwise if she is peeing and the pee isn't dark colored she is getting enough fluid down in spite of the vomitting and should be better in a one or two days. Just let her drink what she wants when she wants, try not to let her drink too much at any one time. Flat gingerale is nice too ( I don't think normally you should let kids drink pop but I think this is an exception) You could also just make some sugar water with a pinch of salt.

No more milk. That is just going to make her sick again. Try clear fluids. My son hates pedialyte as well so I mix pedialyte Popsicles with Italian ice and let him eat that. Try jello too. Make sure anything you can get her too eat is very bland.

definetly try to keep her hydrated because you can get seriously ill and have to go to the hospitol and get an iv if she doesnt keep anything down. i would try even like 7 up or some kind of clear soda. also water maybe some juice. maybe try to make it a drink you know she will like maybe make a slushy with your blender with a little bit of pedialyte and some juice .good luck i hope she get better soon. i know it can be so scary as a parent to watch your child go through those horrible cold you feel so helpless just remember she will be ok just try to keep the liquids in her and keep on checking her temp.

Its a stomach virus.. it should be gone within about 1-3 days at the most... keep giving her little sips of water and popsicles if she can handle it. They have pedialyte popsicles dont they? try to look at the store when you can.

if her tummy is that upset..pull the milk...mine would not drink pedialyte either..I was raised in the south and my mom believed in the power of "sweet tea".. Try giving her a little weakened sweet tea at room temp and see if it settles her tummy. Also a friend of mine had her Dr tell her that room temp liquids were best for a bad tummy..so do not give her warm or cold anything..just room temp.or you could stir most of the bubbles out of some sprite or ginger ale and try that. When they are sick and wil not drink I always felt like it did not much matter about the nutritional value ..just whatever would get fluids in them

Try diluted ginger ale with a dash of salt in it. The salt gets rid of the fuzz and puts some back into baby. Sick people need sugar so the ginger ale should help. Ii not better real soon see a doctor.
