Make a memory book. You can do it alone or you can have as many family members participate as possible. If other people are going to do this, give everyone a page or two to write down a favorite memory or paste a picture etc.
If it is just you write a letter, telling your grandma how much she means to you, and write down some of your favorite memories of her in a scrap book. You can also get books that state how much things were in a certain year...like the price of a house, gas or milk etc. Maybe you can look up prices for the year she was born or when she got married etc. You can paste the numbers you find in the book, or write them in to fill space. If she has old photos that have aged or been torn etc. maybe you can take them and have them remastered and put the new ones in the memory book.
If your grandmother has hobbies, like gardening put a seedpacket of forget-me-nots on one page.
I guarentee that your grandma, will not have a memory book, and a bonus for you is that they are great if you and or your family members don't have alot of money.
Just buy a scrap book and some markers, and go from there. You should be able to find everything you need at a craft store or at wal-mart.
You can also use a scrap book starter set.
good luck

My best recommendation, not knowing what your Grandmother enjoys and what exactly she has, would be to give her a 'gift' from an organization like World Vision (they have a nice range of prices, but there are other organizations that do similiar programs).

World Vision helps families become self-sufficient and survive in developing countries. You can gift a family a goat, fruit trees, medicine, a share in a well, an ENTIRE well, a wheelchair Etc. These go to specific families that otherwise would not survive in countries like Angola, Lesotho, The Republic of Georgia etc.
They'll give documentation that there was a gift made in your grandmothers name, and I believe they show your specific families story and their use of the item.
If your grandmother is more ... capitalistic, you could try any of the following items: a "gift certificate" for you to take her and other members of family out for a nice dinner, tickets to an orchaestra/ballet/opera concert, a pretty brooch or pin from the jewelry store (something with pearls, opal, onyx is always nice) or an updated family portrait of your parents and your siblings in a nice frame is always appreciated by a grandmother.

I am a grandmother to 11 beautiful grandkids and my first greatgrandson and the gift I enjoy the most is when they give me photos. My favorite purse is one that has a photo of all the kids together as part of the design. It was made by a company by the name of Brighton Collectibles. Brighton has a web site for store locations and you can see what productsare available as well. I get compliments on my handbag all the time and people always ask where I had it made.

How about a small surprise party for her with your family.Your family presence is good. Then ask your mom or dad to drive her to see the view while some of you in the house are preparing the foods. When they comes home make sure everything is prepared. We did this to my grandmother and she cried for happiness. She said "this is the best thing that ever happened in her life and she would never forget that day till she die. Then we did an exchanging gift also. I had asked my friend to make a beautiful frame with my grandmother and grandfather and my whole family in it. My friend did it very very nicely. That was our gift to our grandmother. So she cried of happiness.

I don't need anything either, so for Christmas my daughter shops and makes me a gourmet dinner with dessert and cleans up the kitchen, then rents a good movie and watches it with me. Time spent together is a great gift!
If you really want to buy her something, maybe some really nice chocolates or a scented candle. I always feel it's good to get older people things that you use up, like food or nice toiletries.

You can't go wrong with jewery. Buy her a grandmother necklace with her, her kids, and you and other grandkids birthstones on it. They always love that or a locket with your picture something on that line.

Maybe she could use some repairs around her house. If your handy making things make her something. Instead of buying something think of something special that she would like to do or someplace to go. Alot of times it isn't what someone gets them but something someone DOES for them.

Try putting together a scap book collage of pictures and things you two have done together. When we get older money means so little. Memories and time with the ones we love is better than gold. Good luck.

How about a nice Christmas-tree ornament?
Or you can make your grandmother a lovely card and write in it a message about how much you love her.

If, you have a bunch of picture's of you, and you and her together you can make a quilt with it. Put all the pictures on a quilt and give it to her for Christmas. That's something she can have for the rest of her life.
