$2400 for a vacuum cleaner ? Or as Kirby calls it...a "home cleaning system".Would you pay even $800 for it ? This is what a Kirby salesman offered it to us for.I passed on it.

I might pay $800, if it was a VERY high-quality machine that would also shampoo my carpet. But for $2400, it had better come with an intelligent robot to push it for me!

Check out Consumers Reports online and look at their ratings. It may cost a small fee to join and view the listings but worth it. I have a Sears vacuum and it has been good and was reasonably priced. But my sister has a Miele which is still less expensive than the Kirby and an awesome quiet vacuum. I wish I had paid the extra dollars and gotten one of these.

I had a housekeeping business years ago and I sat down on the floor and cried the first time I need to use a Kirby because I could not change the parts to it easily and was on a time budget. And it was so very very heavy I was exhausted when I did use it.

Yes they are good vacuums, but I feel you could get something better for less. Also the Oreck vacuum my Mother in law bought was not really a great deal for the money.

Kirby has somehow been successful with this strategy. I will say that people I know who bought a Kirby had them last almost forever. My $200-$300 vacuums lasted about 3-5 years. Still, to add up to $2400 that is a bunch of years.

i used to work for kirby. you should have pounced on the 800. those suckers do everything. plus the carpet cleaner that it's equipped with brought grease paint out of a carpet one time. the woman was so impressed she bought it on the spot. they had tried everything before i washed her carpet with it. seriously i don't work for them anymore (and never would again those people work up to 16 hours a day with a lunch break if they're lucky) anyway you should have totally pounced on the 800

no a dyson is 500 and it better than a kirby, some dysons are 300. There is a reason they go door to door, noone buys them, they are to expensive and over priced. Stay away from them.

No, but my vacuum is an electrulux on its last leg that I no longer get bags by the case for. It was purchased approximately 22 years ago.

No my mother had one she paid about that much for it but it wasnt worth that much money! It was really heavy and after a couple of months it was no better than a 200$ vacuum.

$2,400! Um NO!
It doesn't even cost that to install a central vac unit.
I probally wouldn't spend over 300 for vacuum.
(I have central)
While we are on the subject of overpriced vac's my mother bought a "Rainbow Vac" and she and my sister said it was junk. She was frugal so I was shocked that it cost $2,000!

I would check out Comumer Report, it costs online.($26 year, $6 month) or you can go to the library.

Keep passing it up...go to Sears and check out what they have instead. You can buy a Dyson for about $300 - $400 if you want a really good vac...
