I've been waxing at home for about 2 years now.
I have tried pretty much every brand of wax and sugar out there, and I must say what works best for me are those plastic strips with the wax already on them. It's not as messy. However, they only seem to work well for my legs. On the biquini area and underarms, I have to use the regular wax because the hair in this areas is thicker and those strips don't pull all of them out.
Some tips...take a pill or two of any ibuprofen meds...like anything that you'd take for cramps. Motrim seems to work well for me. Take them about 30 minutes before you start waxing. Also...about an hour before you are ready to wax, exfoliate the area you want to wax with a scrub. If you don't have a scrub at home, use some regular salt or sugar in the shower and spread it over your legs. This will separate the hairs and make sure that you have less dead skin laying around.
Once you are ready to wax, spread a towel underneath you because wax is sticky and this way you can wipe your hands down if things get really messy. With the strips, I like to sit on them for about a minute or so...as I wax, I sit on the strip that I am going to use next. This "warms" the wax so when u use the strip it works a little better.
If you are using regular wax, choose a spot to wax next to the microwave. This way you don't have to keep running from the bathroom to the kitchen everytime you need to warm up the wax again. Trust me...not a good thing!
Last but not least make sure that you are careful with the temperature of the wax. It's supposed to look and feel like honey. If it's more liquid than that, it's to hot!!!
It's supposed to feel hot on the skin, but not burning hot. Just hot.
Try warming it up in 20 second intervals. If you warm it up to much, leave it in the refrigerator for about a minute or two until it cools down.
I got a really bad burn on my thigh once because I wasn't careful with the temperature. It was painful and now I have a small scar to show for it!
Last but not least, my roomate likes to wax after she had a shot or two of tequila or vodka. She says it helps her with the pain. (Everyone is different...if you are underage I wouldn't recommend it of course...wink wink)
Good luck!
PS: It's normal for the skin to be blotchy and red for a few hours after you wax. Don't worry if you have little balls on the skin...in the morning your legs will be nice and smooth.

Depends on what part of your body you are waxing and how much hair you have.
I have recently started waxing my legs at home because I have so little hair left after years of salon waxing that it seems ointless to go to the salon any more.
If you have very little hair there is no pain at all, just a sort of tickle feeling.
If you have a lot of hair it can be uncomfortable, and a brazillian can be very uncomfortable - I wouldn't try that at home!!!
How are you doing it? If you are using "Ready to Use" wax strips there is really nothing to watch out for, but if you are warming and applying wax yourself, be very careful not to over heat the wax as you could burn yourself quite easily.
Don't use moisturiser beforehand as it will inhibit the ability of the wax to do its job.

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
A review of the various hair removal methods is available at http://tinyurl.com/ob6tt

I don't think you should use Nair there because it might mess up your skin, it's not for sensitive areas. I think you should pluck. I tried plucking a hair last night to see how bad it would be, it's honestly not that bad and I'm a baby when it comes to pain. Or, you could try shaving.

A mild toner applied after. Use an anti-inflammatory to keep the pain down.
do the easy parts first like shins to get used to it.

it depends how hairy your legs are so if there really hairy or medium you might just want something to squeeze cuz it might hurt.or you should just get nair a cream that comes off in 3min.it leeaves your legs soft and hairless until 2 days after.
