Timely.

I leave my job, and my career of 26 years, on the 15th December. I no longer love it.

Why didn't I leave earlier?
A desire for financial security (I'm still not quite sure what else I'm going to do, and my skills are quite specialised). A perception that what I was doing was hardly the worst of jobs: well paid, normal hours, socially useful...
A strong possibility that my problems were due to depressive illness, not my job, and that the main thing was to keep working while addressing my medical condition.
A fear of being unemployed, and how that would be seen by family and friends...

Now, what would I love doing that I can actually make a living at, seeing as I can't quite retire, yet?
I'm about to find out.

I am very unhappy with my job, but it is the only job I ever had, I started when I was in high school and have been ther almost 11 years. I am scared to look for a new job. Plus, i know there that I can get off when i need to and they work with my church schedule.
