I tried searching for the info on the Web and couldnt find information on banks in Haiphong.

I suggest that you call up the Vietnamese embassy in the US and ask them for this information http://www.vietnamembassy-usa.org/learn_about_vietnam/geography/hai_phong/

The embassy's contact information is:

Embassy of Vietnam
1233 20th Street, NW, Suite 400
Washington, DC 20036
Tel: (202) 861 0737; Fax: (202) 861 0917

I thought I answered this question already, but I'll answer it again anyway...

The American banks that I know of here (I'm in Hanoi right now) are Bank of America and CitiBank. You should look into Vietcombank (http://vietcombank.com.vn). It's probably the biggest bank in Vietnam and seems to have a very good reputation with foreigners. There are Vietcombank branches everywhere in Vietnam, so it should be easy to find one in Haiphong.

Good luck to you!

You may want to contact the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam:

http://www.amchamvietnam.com/

They sould be able to suggest avenues for further inquiry... ANZ, Citibank, Far East National Bank, HSBC, JPMorgan Chase, and Wachovia Bank, among others, have presence in Vietnam, but I am not sure if any of them has a branch in Haiphong (foreign concerns tend to cluster in Hanoi and/or Saigon)...
