It has a 45 tooth rear sprocket. Will going to a smaller (lower count tooth) sproket get any better speed. As it is now at 65 mph she is turning around 4,000 rpm.

yes a smaller tooth sprocket on the rear increases speed ,but drops accelleration. adn larger front is speed, smaller is accel. one tooth change in the front is about equal to a 4 tooth change in the rear. 1 or 2 teeth up front mght just do it and the chain might have that much slack to adjust wothout buying a new one.

There are two things (generally) that make top speed and that is horse power and gearing.

gearing is cheaper!

The lowest cost fix is to change the sprockets as suggested.
I would recommend going 2 down in back and up 1 in front.
If you give me your bike info I can get you a price for the parts.

The next step is a performance exhaust system.

followed by the appropriate carb ajustments or Power Commander for Fuel injection models.

The next step is to crack into the engine and that is big $$.

That will work,or go bigger sprocket on the trans shaft. I have replaced both at the same time to get what I wanted.
