There are many species in and on this world we call Earth.
Do you mean in this universe? that if the world is so diverse then there must be something going on on some of the other planets.... This is a working theory many scientists hold.

Alone in the world? No. There's about 5 or 6 billion of us, give or take. Alone in the Universe? Highly doubtful.

It seems that way sometimes and yet look in the mirror, you have you, and yourself, and you, and go from there. Only your imagination can help you create your illusions and dont let anyone take your illusions ever. And guard yourself against the three D's , dillusion, destruction, depreciation.
Then you will see further into the formula of the cure for lonliness, and you can search for others in the universe as well.

In a way yes. All you do you get credits or if you fail your desperation. Even if someone tries to calm you down you still feel the person you are. Deep inside you know. But cheer up, there's always someone to talk with and share your loneliness, dilemmas etc.
take care.

if by world you mean universe, no it seems unlikely that were the only life forms with a spec of intellegence in an infinate plain of galaxys all containing billions of planets just like ours where something is asking this exact same question and something else is giving this exact same answer and so on.

As Knut Hampsun said: "Alone and afraid in a world I never made" Yes, we is alone ,Virginia, lonely, desolate, forgotten, abandoned, deserted, minimized, pulverized, in an indifferent universe where no body cares and there is really no Santa Claus. Miles and miles of desolation, dissolution , evanescence, and no one to hear our lamentations. An abyss, a bottomless pit of anguish
and isolation.....alone....and afraid....!!!!!!!!!
