The number change does nothing but let the NBA market a whole new set of Kobe Jerseys... that is why he did it. Kobe may be the most talented play in the NBA but after his whole problems in Colorado I have no respect for anything about him other than his talent to play ball. What about Stoudemire? Once he heals and gets back into basketball shape the Suns are going to be monsters in the West. I believe that they will make it to the finals.

Kobe changed his # cause he believes half his career is over and wanted a new # to jump start the second half of his career.

Amare is striving to be #1 hence the #1

I believe that their number changes have nothing to do with their current performances on the hard court. Both players are coming off surgery so it will take them time to acclimate themselves to the style of play that the NBA is known for.

Hope this helps.

Kobe's starting over, so he chose his first number he recieved in the US.
Amare Stoudemire changed his number because of religious beliefs.
I'm down with it.

I don't think Kobe should've changed his name but, for Amare it makes sense because he's coming back from an injury that might not leave him as the same player that he was.

It really doesn't have an affect on their playing unless they themselves let it affect them.
