For over a year now, I've had Verizon DSL with MSN. A few days ago, I tried to change to Verizon Yahoo. I tried to download the upgrade but it won't take. (Stalls at 48% and I get a message saying that registration can't be completed at this time and to try back later.) After 8 calls to tech support, including three screen sharing sessions, they can't get the software to download past 48% either. They transferred me twice to billing who told me they can't do anything because it is a tech issue. Having removed the MSN Premium features from my computer back in August, I have been using just the Verizon DSL connection and going "cafeteria" style by picking and choosing different things. I'm fine with that but I'd like to be able to see what the Yahoo package is like. I'm still paying the $17.95 per month wether or not I use the bells and whistles associated with the MSN or Yahoo packages. Thanks.

That's exactly what I have been doing but it looks as though the new Yahoo pacakge that comes with Verizon Yahoo has a lot more going for it than previously. I may very well remove it from my computer anyway but, since the "online experience" is free, I want to be able to access it.

I removed IE 7 and it still did the same thing. I even restored my computer using the CDs that came with it but the Yahoo software still stops at 48%! It won't let me register my account with Yahoo for some reason.

when I first hooked uo to Verizon DSL, I had problems downloading the Verizon/Yahoo browser also. I didn't like it after 2 days of use, uninstalled it, & reloaded Yahoo from the Yahoo site.

Their browser was actually IE with all the hiccups that goes with IE. My primary browser is Firefox 2.0. I like the features & has fewer problems. It's a whole different browser than it was 2 years ago, & the add ons are awesome.

Part 2. What bells & whistles? I agree with him. less problems doing it his way - or mine.

I don't use either. I grew up without any accessories when ordering internet service. I find it better to pick and chose individual items you need. Like firefox browser, using google for many searches, having email at other providers. All 3 addons for Verizon DSL bloats your computer with the typical install. Some find it easier though to have it all in 1 shop. I think they have antivirus/firewall too not sure. Of course I use my own antivirus/firewall cause I'm picky and I like the ones that are best rated.
