What is Spermicide?
A spermicide kills or disables sperm so that it cannot cause pregnancy. Spermicides come in many different forms: foam, jelly, cream, film, and suppositories. Most use the chemical nonoxynol-9 against sperm. Spermicides provide lubrication and can be used with other methods of birth control. They are most effective when used consistently and correctly with a barrier method of birth control, like a condom. Spermicides are 71-82% effective as birth control. Used alone, spermicide does not protect against HIV/AIDS.
Use
Spermicide can be used alone or with other birth control methods to reduce the risk of pregnancy. The lubrication it provides can increase pleasure. Insert your spermicide within a half hour before intercourse. Add more spermicide for repeated intercourse. Leave your spermicide in your vagina for 8 hours after the last act of intercourse and do not douche for 8 hours. Douching weakens spermicide. It is available in most drug stores and does not require a prescription.
Advantages
Available without a prescription.
Lubrication may increase pleasure.
Use can be part of sex play.
Does not affect future fertility.
Disadvantages
Does not protect against HIV/AIDS.
Must be readily available and used prior to penetration.
Can be messy.
Can have a bad taste during oral sex.
Possible genital irritation.

Spermicide is more effective in typical use than a condom. Condoms are only 70% effective with TYPICAL use. You can buy condoms with spermacide. Spermacide from a can be irratating to the skin and you can also develop a sensitivity or yeast infection. You use spermicide by inserting a tube almost exactly like you would put in a tampon. It is only good for a few hours after you push it in and FYI it will stay there for a day so you may have leakage :( I would highly recommend condoms with spermacide. Also refrain from sex day 11-17 after your period. You only have a few days every month you can get preganant in the middle of your cycle but sperm can live up to 3 days. (spermacide looks like white foam)

It comes in many forms. Get condoms with spermicide AND use spermicide as well. There is a type that's like a suppository, shaped like a bullet, but it produces a lot of liquid once inserted. There is a film that is good, but it sticks to your finger, so my OBGYN said to put it on top of the condom before sex -- that works well.

spermicide, well I am now four months pregnant so how effective is that, and when the doctor asked what form of b/c or protection method we were using, he laughed and said he didnt know why it is even allowed on the market. I assume he gets freaquent patients that end up pregnant.
What spermicide is ' a jelly form, or foam or capsule that you insert into your vagina prior to having sex, you put it in as far back as possible that about it,. there are several forms, it is over the counter, but I do not recommend this to prevent pregnancy.
because HELLO> the baby that kicks inside of me is proof this is not effective for everyone.

its a cream that goes deep inside of you. i don't think they are any better than condoms. i would not recommend having sex unless you are able to live with the consequences if you are not married. It's much better if you wait until marriage to have sex then you will not have to worry about getting pregnant because you have your husband beside you. It's against God's commandment to have sex before marriage, and is his gift when you do get married. but if you are married just miss your obvilation date and that's the safe way. usually comes after your period.
