Try NOT to get your gecko(s) from petstores, large chain petstores that is (ie petco, petsmart). There geckos there tend to be unhealthy, and wayyy over priced. You'd be much better off trying to find breeders in your area. Cheapers, healthier, better advice.

Anyway, how about fat-tailed geckos?

They are similar to leos but less common. You can keep them together (only ONE male, of course), you could keep 1.2 (one male, two females) in your tank and they would breed. Or you could just keep 3-4 females.

Or crested geckos? http://www.pangeareptile.com/id52.htm
They are really neat looking, handleable, and they jump! lol. They are a little harder to care for, they require high humidity, lots of plants, but they are great geckos. They eat fruit and bugs, but they have this great crested gecko diet. I like to mix it in with mashed fruit and baby food and freeze it in icecube trays - very easy to feed!

Other than that, there's not too much. Most other geckos are too spastic or very expensive.

OK the thing about cage mates is that pet stores put more then one in the cage because they don't want to pay for more cages so they clump them all into one. I wouldn't get more than one In the same cage, but if you must you can only put females in the same cage, males have to keep separate. You can put females and a male together but expect babies. And also zoe is right never buy pets at a large market pet store.

try to get the best geckos that are good with each other.

i went to petco and saw a gecko eating another gecko... just for help! Another way to find good geckos is ask a petco person if you go there.
