I'm trying to teach myself to play piano, but I'm using this software and I'm kind of getting frustrated. It would be easier for me if I could use the pedal, but I've read some books that say that when reading music you should use the sustain pedal only sparingly. Right now I don't have the pedal hooked up, but I'm about to hook it up becuase I'm playing 3rds, and it's difficult to switch from one third to another like a G# and E third to a F and C# third. I'm not a contortionist. How do we do that. There is no fingering numbers. I think I'm supposed to figure out the fingering ahead of time. The software shows me some music to play and I play to a metronome. I'm hitting too late, or lifting up to get to the next position too early. It's also making my hands tired. Am I cheating by using the pedal?

Pedals are usually used after you get the hang of things a little bit better. try to find a teacher!! Piano is a lot about fingerings!!
F and C# isn't a third, so that could be part of your problem. If you are moving in thirds just up or down the scale you can use 1&3, then 2&4 then 3&5. But seriously, get a teacher! things will become sooo much easier!!!

there is 0.5-pedaling, it particularly is an effect, and not continually useful. Lifting the dampers partway off the string renders the strings semi-muted. mutually as the base line is down, the damper is obviously off the string, yet once you enable bypass of a word, the strings are imperfectly damped ... that's they save ringing (style of) and hose down after a quick time. The "Legato effect" is superb found out as a fingering technique with out sustain pedal in any respect. in case you particularly need to learn it nicely, prepare classical organ literature ... finished with finger substitutions and flow handbook fingering. :-) 0.5-pedaling (or a non-quit sustain pedal controller) is an extremely cutting-edge progression in the digital (MIDI) worldwide. traditionally controller sixty 4 (Hex 40) grew to become into an on (127) of (0) factor. i don't understand if the controller variety has replaced, besides the undeniable fact that it extremely is now specific as a non-quit controller (variety 0 - 127) so 0.5-pedaling is available. ... the kinds of music I play do not income from 0.5-pedaling.

GET A TEACHER for Christ's sake!!!! Doing what you described isn't very hard if you have someone to teach you, and once you've had some experience. In fact, it's ridiculously easy. If you cheat by tricking some random software program, you're never going to learn anything.

Only use it once you know how to play
