why is it that a crime that is most likely to be committed by a black person has more severe punishment than a crime committed by a white dude.

1. A greater % of minorities grow up in the innercity, where crime is rampent (sp?). So a great % of minorities turn to crime.
2. On average, white people can afford better lawyers than black people. Again, because of the innercity thing.

Sorry, that's not the way it is here, if the white person is the one killed in a racial incident, it isn't called a "race hate" crime, even if the perpetrator was yelling racial remarks before or during teh attack. The result of this is right wing groups springing up and compiling all these events of injustice as fuel on the fire, that is causing a really scary backlash and I wish these idiots would treat all crime equally regardless of race before we have a nationalist party spring up here as is sweeping through Europe. If you can show unequal sentencing then you have a legal case. I think disadvantages may cause some groups to commit more crimes than others, plus the overall percentage of their population needs to be weighed on equal ratio to that of other race groups, and then figure out what percentage of them are involved in criminal activity. I don't support criminal activity by anyone, and people who think they can get away with a crime or more likely to try it, so discouraging EVERYBODY from committing crimes is the answer. But no one can be left feeling like they have been left behind, outside, unable to participate in the "American dream" or else they may feel they have nothing to lose by turning to crime. Then we all lose. Giving them a welfare check is not the answer, giving them training and a job, a way out, lift themselves by their own bootstraps, that is the answer.

John Mcfarland III, Dallas TX court appointed attorney, $7800 (including trial and expert witnesses), convicted of homicide, sentenced to death.
Follow the money trail... and the skin color... The same homicide(s) committed by a white man nationwide yeilds a life sentence 98% of the time. Try voting on THIS one...

i dont think so. get your facts straight. OJ Simpson killed his wife and got off innocent. and he is black.
