I think hate is too often confused with ignorance. I grew up as a non-Mormon in a predominately Mormon town and I definitely don't hate Mormons, but in all honesty can see why people might feel animosity towards them. The Mormons can come across as a very exclusive group. They have a lot of church-central activities, and if you're not Mormon, you're simply not invited. And if you're not invited, you're not included. Being left on the outside of a circle can be very confusing and hurtful, especially during your school years. If you are of another faith or denomination (I was raised Nazarene) there's a sense that you're "wrong" and that you're being judged. There are also a lot of things that are floated around out there about the Mormon church that are misunderstood by non-Mormons. And, unfortunately, the majority of Mormon's I've known are very secretive about the ongoings in their churches. The general public wants to know more about the rituals that are done during wedding ceremonies, more about praying the dead into heaven, more about multiple levels of heaven, more about the history of the church, and there simply aren't many explanations offered. People don't like what they don't understand, and even more so, don't like being excluded.

I am not a Mormon nor do I agree with the teachings you follow. I am not a likely convert. However, I find many Mormons I know to be upstanding and loveable folks.
I would offer you this: listen to what opponents and those who have left your church say. Use that as a touchstone to keep yourself real. I do not mean that you should always believe what they say, but examine your belief system. An unexamined life is one that is not well-lived.
Do not let others stand between you and God. You are the one who must answer direct now and at the hour of your death. Take responsibility for what you do and believe, because ultimately it is truly your responsibilty.
And that Golden Rule? Best one out there: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Mormons are well known for being prepared for disasters and emergencies. There are times coming when that preparedness will be appreciated by those not of your faith. Then you will lead by example; then you will find converts.
My lady - girl friend, if you like - is here today because a Mormon family rescued her pregnant great grandmother out in the wilderness in Arizona. I am very glad Mormons are around.

I can't explain.
What I can say is that all of the Mormons I have ever met were very special people. One Mormon I worked for was the general manager of an 8,000-employee Fortune 500 company division. He was an honorable man and a Mormon Archbishop.
The Mormons who worked for me were hard workers. I have had neighbors who have been extraordinary people.
Mormons do not deserve hate.
I remember landing in Salt Lake City once and saw a huge family of little children and their mother waiting for Daddy to get off the plane. It was a wonderful experience.

Hate Mormons? Heck, I'm Catholic and my religion gets raked over the coal all the time. If someone voices disdain or hatred for those of my religion I respect their right to do that. That doesn't mean I respect their opinion, just their right to hold that opinion.
Besides, how could anyone hate those who believe a book that reads like something only Walt Disney could have written during an acid trip? I've read and studied the Book of Mormon. I just find it entertaining reading. However, if it brings others closer to a God of their understanding, then I'm all for it.
Good luck.

I am also a mormon and have done nothing intentionally to offend anyone. Maybe some people don't like to have missionaries knocking on their doors, but we have only good intentions. I am extremely offended by some things that have been said about mormons on this site. We don't practice polygamy anymore, if that is what's offending some people. There are certain people out there that just don't like us. They should take some wisdom from Thumper: "If you can't say anything nice, don't say nothin' at all."

Actually not all people hates you. Don't think about that. The reason that people will hates you, if you go in the public places and try to debate to the other religions. People have different religions and different belief, and if you show to them on what religion you have then some people don't like and hates on what you say and what you trying to explain bec. they belief in the other way. Source of argument starts from different religon and be careful on that bec. people wants to die and wants to kill bec. of only a religion of what they faith and believed. So, be quite and be friendly with them. Again, don't convinced people especially in the public places about your religion. You can convinced person by person in private places. Your religion as being a Mormons is Ok. but be friendly only to all the people around. They don't care what types of religion you have but they care what good person you are if you are good and friendly.

i think of that mistreating everyone interior the call of God (or perhaps in any different case) is incorrect. human beings do not understand Mormonism, and so they worry it. they could understand that Mormons take care of their very own greater advantageous than any religious team i understand of. while i substitute right into a toddler, the mom and dad of my classmate and his 2 siblings died, and the Mormons introduced in somebody to be the toddlers' guardian, paid off the abode, fed and knowledgeable those toddlers, and despatched them to college. What different religious team could do this? NONE that i understand. So people who hate Mormons are in basic terms ignorant, and that they'd desire to accomplish a little homework.

If at some odd times...there are people who mistreat you for being Mormons...it doesn't mean to say that people hate you for being so. It's not only the Mormons who suffered persecutions...remember? Just keep on with what you are doing...be strong in your faith...and tell the whole world the essence of your religion. I maybe of a different religion...but i do admire people from different faith who are zealous in spreading the doctrine they believe in. Good luck!

People don't hate Mormons. It is the leaders of the church lying to its members that gets most people upset. The rest of us can see it. Why members believe what the spin doctors in the church put out is something that we have a hard time with.
If you want examples, read "Revelations of Convenience" by Floyd McElveen.

I also belong to the LDS Church. Based on my experience, people fear what is different. The problem is rooted from the very beginning of the Church. We opposed things that were common at that time, such as slavery and tobacco. Bigotry has been faced at our church since the beginning, and it will continue until the Second Coming. Do not fear. These people only hate because they do not know. Keep faith that the Gospel is true, and wear the full armor of God. Don't return what mistreatment you get-you're better than that.
