Do you think that we should tell our children that Santa Claus is not real? In my personal opinion I believe that we should let them hold on to the magic of Christmas as long as they can. With all of the violence in the world and the horrible things that are going on I believe that children should hold on to their childhood as long as they can and that to tell them the truth about their hero is really sad. I would like your opinion on this please.

I realize that every child has to grow up but why make them grow up so quickly and why ruin the magic when they are so young?

I wouldn't tell them. Let them enjoy the magic for as long as possible. When my children started questioning the reality of Santa being real, my answer was "you never know."

You are right, children should hold onto their childhood as long as possible.

I do not like the idea of having a child believe in a make believe character. Santa claus is fake the tooth fairy is fake and so is the easter bunny. Parents need to take credit for what they do for their children, bad enough the new generation is an ungrateful bunch who disrespects their parents, I would not want my child to believe in a man in a santa costume or any costume for that matter. We have pedophiles out here who would take advantage of a child who believes in such things. We just need to be aware of what we teach our children especially when they are at a vulnerable age. YES! Believing in santa was cool many years ago but now i fear for children who may trust a man in a santa claus suit with a gift for them. THINK ABOUT IT PLEASE!!!!!!!

No! Let them figure it out. I know that when I still believed in Santa then those were the best Christmas's for me. I dont know why, but it seemed like the magic was pretty much gone. Let them believe it in as long as they can.

i think you should. only because Santa is not what Christmas is about and they will find out in school and thats hard for alot of kids. it's better but if they are 5 and under then don't tell them yet. if they are 10 and older you should. from 6 to 10 thats your choose. im 13 and my parents never told me santa was real and i never cared that he wasn't real because all kids care about are the presents.

I personally think that keeping the secret of Santa Claus will be better for children, since it makes them happy, and belive me sooner or later they will know the truth about it and they will keep laughing at thier selfes.

I don't believe it matters. We raised some that believed and others that were told that Santa didn't exist. They all turned out OK. Have good educations, happy kids. Not scared for life. The ones who were lied to were upset they were lied to about it, and the ones who were told the truth are glad they weren't lied to. The presents under the tree were just as great! Xmas is for kids!! New Years is for adults :)

Depends on the age of your "children":
under 9 probably not,
10 -13 maybe,
13-18 they know,
over 18 they should be buying you nice presents by now.
