I have found this myself. It's harder when they put a number in a word to shorten it.like l8r.
It's easy enough to understand, but annoying.
My spelling is not always perfect, and i do use the spell checker if i am not too sure of the spelling, mainly because i don't want to make myself look a fool,
It makes you wonder at times,if some people did actually go to school and learn anything.Even at my age,I'm still learning, and most of the time it comes from the youngsters.
It's nice to see,when you've answered or asked a question,and used the spell checker,the message `no misspellings found`

Sometimes the spellchecker does not work, it just goes round and round, other times it doesn't accept English spelling.
It is never the less a good devise, some people are used to texts where different versions of words are used for quickness, and spell checker again wouldn't work for those types of words, so as they know what they mean they don't use it.
I agree however that we should use the spellchecker as it also corrects typing errors, as well as spelling errors. And we should when able use proper words here.
Though I will answer questions even with spelling errors.

When the grammar is so bad, what difference will spell check make? And even if they use it, it can't catch the correct spelling of the wrong word. For example confusions between their, there & they're; then and than (a personal pet peeve), to, too & two (usually the errors are between to & too); her & she (she is a subject pronoun, people, her is an object pronoun). So, as for using spell-check in this situation, it's like...what's that saying? I think it's, "Like putting lipstick on a pig."

You are so right. However, I don't know where the spell-check is on my screen - not that I really need it.
The way some of the questions are worded and spelt really makes my blood boil sometimes.
Keep flying the flag for good spelling and grammar!

because its only an informal post on the internet. i don't go into word type something out, use spell/grammar check and then copy and paste it. i just type it out and if there's errors in it, so be it. no big deal.

lots of people write that way on purpose or just write the way they talk you know with slang
or like writing cuz instead of because for example
so what though, i can usually understand what they're saying without reading it again, even when they write this way. I guess some people are just slower
