Oblivion

Is oblivion darkness?
Is it dank and wet, the scent of fear leaking off the walls?
Or is it something far more sinister,
A never ending night,
With nothing to cast the shadows away?

Oblivion.
It is a powerful word,
Ringing with fear,
Dripping with hopelessness.

Oblivion.
Is it relief?
Does it ease our sorrows to a grave,
Silencing our demons?

Oblivion.
Is it peaceful?
Wrought with fear?
Or simply nothing?

Oblivion.
Do we see it?
Or does it hide,
Dancing away into dreams?

Oblivion.
Do we crave it?
As our lives end, with no time for choice,
Do we need it,
To finally rest forever?

I think it is. Sounds like you are questioning yourself. Something we all do and are scared to admit out loud. Opening up to others is a brave and scary thing especially when you are asking for opinions. Keep writing, it is good for you. :-)

Oblivion is a weak word
devouring the waters beneath the ocean
Oblivion is a relief
nothing to see now when eyes are closed
then wait for future
for it will come soon enough now

It reminds me of poem that was recited in the movie Peggy Sue Got Married. I did not like that one either.

I don't like that it repats "oblivion" at the beginning of each paragraph. It sounds so first-gradish.

You're equating oblivion with death and I not sure that's valid.
