I'm having trouble during the setup. The part where they ask you your incoming mail server: POP3 or IMAP, and outcoming mail server, SMTP.

What are these servers, and how do I find which one to use

Is Outlook being set up to connect to an email server from your ISP? If it is, you should be able to find support documents on their web site about the proper server names to use.

POP3 servers download all mail from the server and move them to your local Outlook application. IMAP servers allow mail to be read from the server and stored on the server. SMTP servers are standard outgoing mail servers that use standardized commands to connect to destination mail servers and deliver messages.

As I said, there is no way to know off-hand what the proper server names are for a given email provider. This information would have to be included in some sort of support document.

Contacting or reading some help Files from your Email provider, as they will detail on how to set up Email Software Like Microsoft Outlook.

Yahoo! Mail uses a POP3/SMTP system, but you do need to enquire as if you have this available as not all users do not have this set up. (Under Options or Help)

Most Versions of Outlook and Outlook Express automaticly set up Hotmail addresses.

These servers are the ones which send and receive messages for your internet provider. You will need to get the names of these servers from your provider. If you are trying to set up Yahoo mail with Outlook, you cannot get the server names unless you are a paid subscriber to Yahoo mail.

what is your email address domain? Your domain is the one that tells you which POP and SMTP server you are to use. If you have a free eMail, then you can't merge that to outlook because the free email accounts does not have POP and SMTP servers that lets them import messages outside their system.Ü

pop3 is incoming and SMTP outgoing.Usually they use two ports: 25 and 110. your incoming address will be pop3. internet provider.com and outgoing smtp.internet provider.com or else.
