Fascinated to see that Fair-and-squire seems to think this country is a republic. S/he is clearly a muppet.
I don't see why it should matter who was prime minister for you to give your life for your country.
If you were in the army, you would not be able to say that you woudln't fight because the guy runing the country isn't the one you voted for.
Also fascinated by the guy who said he would have given his life 100 years ago and that the country is much worse now than then. Really? Do we have such aged people answering questions on here? Surely this person must have been arund then to make such a statement. While perfectly entitled to their opinion, I might just throw a few things in that have benefited our lives in the past century.
Old age pension
Universal suffrage
Better healthcare, longer healthier lives and drastically reduced child and femalwe mortality
National Health Service
Access to individual means of transport, such as the car
Employment law
Human rights legislation
Computers
The internet
Aeroplanes, airlines and intercontinental air travel
Can't see why anyone would want to die for Queen or country - sounds like a hollow gesture to me and I didn't vote for her, either - but I would fight to the death to defend their right to do so .

you wouldn't be dying for blair as he only does what the royals say every choice he makes goes through the royals first so in fact you would be dying for queen and country, But in saying that i dont believe one man or woman should die for and reason at all the should put the head of states in a room and let them have a 1 v 1 good old fist fight, lol you can see it now if done like that the strongest man in uk would be head of state

Why does it matter that Blair's in charge, I still love the country despite the marks of mis greasy fingers all over it, and if it came to it I'd like to think I would (although I don't plan on joining the Army, so I don't suppose it ever will).
That Blair is in charge doesn't make it any less honourable to die for Queen and Country, while fighting for Britain. However, Blair should be punished for causing their deaths by dragging them into a war we had nothing to do with; I doubt any signed up with the aim of defending Iraq in an American war.

I may fight if my country was under threat but not if my country was the aggressor, if you join the army (not TA) then you have to go to war whether you like it or not so I wouldnt turn to the army for occupation. I definitely wouldnt fight for the Queen, for a start you dont get a chance to fight for the queen because the queen has never made a decision on the war, the current queen has never ever objected to any laws or legislations passed by the government and these have to go before her. I would fight for my country if i was allowed to pick and choose according to to the justification of the war but thats irelevant because you can't do that.

Why would anyone want to die for a bunch of leeching inbred foreign parasites like the "royal" family. Bring on the Republic Of Britain.

As the Muslim intifada spreads it will soon become necessary to make that choice. Or at least whether to fight for Queen and Country. Since most of the British traditions that mean anything have been abolished, probably not myself.
