A 'D' is a passing grade, if put in terms of passing/failing a course. It usually means "below average"
As for educational/career opportunities, a 'D' means you did just slightly better than outright failure in that course.

Some schools allow a 70, which is a D, to be a passing grade. It's a GPA of 1.7 that most colleges consider passing.

D for Diploma! D is typically a passing grade, but certain programs may have minimums to be in good standing or else probation or program disqualification may occur necessitating a re-take.

depends. In high school, in my school, it was considered failing. In college, if the class is in my major, it's failing, if it's a general requirement, D is passing. If you think you'll have a D, I'd recommend talking to your guidance counselor about what the requirements are at your school

Yes, "D" is passing, but just by the skin of your teeth. Try not to get many of these! They will wreak havoc with your GPA.
