Yes and no.
Computers are actually conglomerations of different parts. The hard drive, the memory, the CPU, and so forth are often made by different manufacturers. If you get good quality parts, it doesn't matter whose name is on the outside.

Basicly just for customer support, right now Dell is number one. Keep in mind that most of the parts in a computer are made by the same few companies. Also ( I ) is right probably the best computer made that makes there own parts is APPLE!! Years ago IBM was the first company out there computer wise and the best. Gates and several other people worked at IBM. Gates went one way and founded MS while several others went the other way and started Apple!!! One of them designed Novell which blows MS away if Im correct that is whats on Apple. Thats why MS wont work on Apple because Gates is a ++=++++,if you get the picture. When Apple came out the big problem was the web and everything out there wouldnt work on Apple they couldnt connect to sites, progams wouldnt work and so on. Now a days that is no longer an issue. So unless you build your computer, when you buy an Apple computer you are getting the same quality as a IBM which now a days just makes servers. They did have a side company E-Machine that was for the home use but I dont know if they are still out there. My nephew had one and I was fixing it every othe month it was junk. Basicly everyone that new what they were doing now work for Apple!!!
HAPPY HUNTING!!!

Brand names mean something to people who want them to..all computors and privately made are for someone. I have owned Presario, Dell and Gateway and now I have a independently made computor and it does what I want it to. The worst problem I had was Dell--there was no tech support and what insurance I paid for--they changed the rates and wanted me pay difference. But that was tech part, I still have the Dell and it is still working great. Even though you read the fine print whatever you buy--make sure they stand back of their computor...check their reputation from more than one source.
