No, it's fairly normal. The best thing to do, though, is to leave your options open so that if you decide later you won't have closed any doors. So take the SATs, apply to colleges, and see what is available in the way of other forms of education or jobs, or maybe even grants.

I just finished school... and I still don't know what I want to do yet!
I'm not sure how it works where you are, but what I decided to do was i put in uni preferences, picking a bunch of courses which I think I might be interested in. Then next year I'm taking a year off (mostly because I have to earn some money before I can go to uni of I'll come out with a whole bunch off debts!) If i get accepted into nay courses I'm going to defer for a year, whcih means that I'll have the place when I decide to go to uni (2008).
Once you have been accepted and have gotten a place it makes it much easier to change between courses if, after my year off, I decide I don't want to do what I have picked. Also, if you start doing something and find out it's not your thing you can change between the courses, within reason.
Look into some colleges in your area and ask about their policies on this kind of thing, as it will ease your mind to know you have options. Also remember, you don't have to go to college. There are apprenticeships, tafe courses and many many other avenues. Don't think that the only way to be successful is to go to college. Have a look around and see what there is in your area as well as other places. Ask people why they did or if they know people you could talk to about options. Also, you don't have to go to college straight away, maybe take some time off and see what happens once you get into the real world and start finding out what you like doing.
Good luck! I know how you feel.... Wish me luck too, I get my results back on the 21st of December....argh!

It is totally ok to not know what you want to do when you start school. When you start college, take your basic English, History, Science, etc. for the first two years. This will help you find out what you are interested in and help steer you in the right direction. It's funny, I've been in college for almost 4 years. I've changed my major about 5 times. LITERALLY. Only you know what you want to do, so don't let other's try to persuade you. The reason why I changed my major so many times was because my family kept telling me to be a teacher...and I started going in that direction. Now my major is Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice and I LOVE where I am. If you're really concerned about it, maybe sit down and write down things you are interested in and wouldn't mind doing on a daily basis. But like I said, take your time. Or you can go to www.tickle.com and they have career tests you can take for free. Good luck and God Bless!

Relax! You should only do something your committed to. If you go to college and your not so sure its the right decision you might fail - not good (trust me I did it). So its better, if you cant decide, to take a year out, get a job, think about it properly. Maybe something will come up you really enjoy doing and then you can pursue that. You can always go to college a bit later in your life, like I did.
I'd like to leave you on a quote : "Dont feel guilty if you dont know what to do with your life, some of the most interesting people i know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still dont"

Think about what you are naturally good at.
Add what you have achieved in your education
Think about what kind of environment you would like to work in 5/6 days a week
Try and put the picture together and think if you need any further education
Now you should be getting near to a plan - aims, objectives, hopes, fears, strengths and weaknesses and away you go.
There's no rush - I haven't decided what I want to do when I leave school yet, and I'm retired now!!!

If you are not sure what you want to do then just take the required courses till you decide. You must go to college or you will kick yourself if you dont because you need a college education for people to take you seriously. Its either that or work hard and wear your self out like in construction.

It's not all that unusual.
My advice: go to college! Get your required courses out of the way and work toward your career choice. Talk to counselors and advisers. They should be able to help you figure this out.

Of course its is. It's a difficult time. Just do your best in your exams and the subjects you enjoy, continue with at college. Everything will fall into place when it's time. All the best
