I was an only child and as such been shy all mylife, I much prefare my own company, even at lunch times I sit by myself etc. Is there a link between shyness and being an only child

I am an only child too and I am also shy. I am already married but I still have this behaviour. I had tried many times not to be shy,but I cant. Maybe you are right.

I do not think so. I use to be shy, but I got my confidants, from who knows where, and now I am not shy. and I am the youngest of 10 children. I use to be so shy, and nervous, around people. but I can't tell you what happened, only it seems, when I graduated from high school, things seem to change. But I still think I am a loaner, I like to be by myself. and their are times I like a lot of company, so I use to say, I am a loaner, because I am from a big family. But who knows what about this stuff. I did use to read books, on self improvement, or self esteem, may be that helped! So who knows may be one day you will grow out of it too!

I am an only child and I am not exactly shy, but I am quiet. Most people don't understand what it's like not having someone to keep you company as a child in that situation.

what I have notice is that only childs are selfish
and some act more mature than their age, since they hang out more with their parents

ya kinda....but u cant be shy in this world...life will just pass u by....u need to make friends, join a clud at school or find a hobbie other than keeping ur face in a computer...find a sport or something..theres too much to do out there...good luck

no. i am usually so bored being alone at home alone that at school i am always surrounded by my friends, i am really outgoing
