I've been pumping breastmilk and I'm now ready to stop that and start feeding my baby formula. What is the best way to make your milk "dry up?" I've been pumping a lot less...is there any other way?

Sadly no. Though I agree that eventually you have got to completely stop the pumping. At that time you're breasts will become engorged and you can express your breasts just enough to where you feel comfortable, but less and less all the time. Now I myself have just stopped bfing too, but it's been almost a month now and still if I squeeze, I still get some clear fluid. Now I too have asked a lactation consultant as to how long it'll take to completely dry up and she told me that every woman varies. Some take days, months, and some never completely dry at all. unfortunately, the only way is to stop all together. the more you pump to relieve engorgement the more your body will produce milk. Try some warm compresses when you have engorgement agony they will help relieve some pain. Good luck!

the best way is to do it sloooowwwwlllyyy... so you dont have to go through any engorgement... take away 1 feeding for like 4 days, then 2 for the next 4 days, and so on... it is better for you and baby.

stopping. At some point you have to go through the engorged unpleasant part of drying up. Its painful, but it doesnt last long.
You can also ask your doctor about medication to help dry you up faster.

You just have to stop...cold turkey. After a few days it will stop coming in and eventually dry up. Or you can try binding your breasts with a gauze wrap. Have your husband wrap it around you as tight as you can handle it. Good luck!! Its no fun.

not sure if it's true, bit apparently putting cabbage leaves on the breasts will dry you up.
