When I try running SpyBot, the program ends up shutting down my laptop because the processor is overheated. I turn off all unnecessary programs such as Yahoo Messenger, iTunes, etc., and only SpyBoy is available. With the 50,000+ types of spyware types, the program is unable to complete the scan and the laptop shuts down completely at about 11,000 spyware type.

Any suggestions to get around this problem. I like to run AdAware then SpyBot for a full cleaning, but I've been unable to do both because of this shut-down problem.

Any help please.

Put something under each corner so the computer is an inch or two above the table. Place a fan so it blows air under your laptop. This is basically what a laptop cooling pad does. It is a box with a fan that cools the bottom of the laptop.

I was going to mention what the others had said about cleaning the fan in your laptop. My computer will shut down if the fan is too dusty whenever I run a virus scan, or some other program. This has always worked for me, if cleaning them doesn't work, then you might have to have it looked at.

Spybot is a bad spy ware scanning program. If you want somethings that is free and that also work, go download the antispyware program from Microsoft. Google search it!

this might work but you could put a cooling device under your laptop like a ice pack or a fan to remove heat from your processor

You should open up your laptop and see if your fan is connected properly. If it isn't then connect it,if it isnt, then go out and get yourself a higher voltage fan. I recommend bying it from www.newegg.com
