The PS3 is designed exclusively for game graphics. It doesn't muck itself up with running an operating system in the background, and it's fine tuned for high-demand performance. Your computer is designed to be great at a wider variety of things, but that diminishes its ability to be especially good at anything particular. The PS3 will definitely look better.

Still, consider what sort of game you'll be playing, since some games are more naturally suited to a computer. If it's a strategy, simulation, or massively multiplayer game, it has to be a PC. If it's an action, adventure, or traditional RPG, console is usually far better. For first person shooters, I used to believe that PCs were far better, but after seeing what the Wii can do (i.e. give you total control over movement without sacrificing ability to aim realistically), I'm not so certain about that.
