It is a very akward topic, but try and talk about it. I am not a professional by any means but I think it's called 'Cutter' I did the same thing when I was young. I cut & burned my arms. I have an anger problem and sometimes that gave me some sort of release. I do not know how to explain it, but there is something inside (emtionally or similar) that is causing them to do this. Good luck!

Tell her that if she needs to feel that pain so badly to drown out her emotional pain than she needs to find a way that won't f*cking kill her.
My best friend nearly blead to death on several occasions from cutting.
Just be there for her and try to make her happy and interested in the good things in life. I can only suggest trying to make her happy. Happiness or a lot lot lot of therapy will work.

Tell an adult you trust, more often than not it leads to something major if not stopped. I went thru this with my oldest daughter and no one said anything to anyone. Finally her best friend called me and told me my daughter was going to kill herself when I went to sleep. Thank God she interfeared and took a chance of losing the friendship so I wouldn't lose my daughter. They are closer now than ever. There's not a day that goes by that I don't call her best friend to tell her I love her like she's my other daughter.

If it is a good friend, you should talk to her and find out what makes her do that, mabe she has familly problems? or social? and if you dont really know her, you should trie to invite her over and show her your sympathy, mabe she will tell you some "clues" and you will be able to help her?...
