Rotting occurs whenever bacteria "attacks" something. So, if there is bacteria under the sea, then pineapple would rot. However, in the Dead Sea w/c is too salty, and bacteria could hardly survive, then rotting may take a long, long, time.

what I'm still trying to figure out is if spongebob is a sponge, how can he live underwater? Wouldn't he float up to the surface?......lol I have way too much time on my hands.

Heat and oxygen are contributing factors in decomposition, so no it wouldn't.Would however get crushed by the added pressure.
